Pause Places are compositions of locally sourced wood, rock, and plants, crafted by local artisans and co-designed with the community and designers. They are located in places where they can assist people to break their journeys, enjoy the view, or watch the world go by. You are very welcome to rest, meet friends, or make new ones or, for the young (and young at heart) to play here.
We have built five Pause Places as a first stage funded by the Tasmanian Department of Health (we call it a pilot stage). They have been built to see how they stand the test of time and if people like them. If successful we will consider extending the idea and constructing other Pause Places.
Want one in your area?
We are working on design guidelines to help people design their own Pause Places. A sort of recipe for a pause place, if you like. We will post the link here when we have them completed.
Please note that while we cannot guarantee funding at this stage, if there is interest, we will actively seek further funding.
